The Asian Flush

I used to turn red when I drank alcohol. For a long time, I thought it was related to the food that I ate beforehand. Then I figured out that if I don't eat within roughly 4 hours prior to drinking, that I didn't turn red. Now, I just use Pepcid AC.

Here is apparently the scientific-ish explanation.

BumpTop

There have been some good ideas on desktops and windowing interfaces. One of my favorites in Enlightenment for Linux. It is actually the window manager that made me go Linux.

There is a new one (below) that is called BumpTop. You should really watch the video. It's about 7 minutes long, but damn what an idea.

Hoodie with screen hoodie attached

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen, but I bet it does help you see the monitor better.

Now the question is, who would want to be seen in public wearing this, everyone would think that you're looking at porn or something. It probably gets quite hot in there as well, and from the looks of it, you might have a little difficulty taking a sip of some coffee or water while you're wearing the dual hood.

Personally, I'd stick with one of the privacy filters that just slip over the screen. They seem to be much more manageable, much less geeky, and well, you would be able to see if someone were to throw something at you.

The one cool (I guess) feature is the speak hole in the back of the head hood. I guess that works if you have ears on the back of your skull.

Feral kittens in the back

So Pip is one of my cats, and he was part of a litter of three I think. The other two (male and female) hang out in my backyard. The female (gray), recently had a litter of 4, and I've only seen three in recent days. Here is a picture of some of them.

Also check out the Carnival of the Cats and the Friday Ark!

Finally, someone speaks up about like, like!

Like, is probably one of the most overused words in the English language today. I don't really have a problem with the word, since most people use it, but overuse is extermely annoying.

I just love this sign though.

Man of Steel is gay!

Really, Superman may be gay, and if the director Bryan Singer and co. want to make him look less gay, then there should not be any cardboard cutouts of Superman that look like this.

Oh, and what is this!?!?

Why I'm still alive

CNN just came out with this article saying that coffee contains a chemical that cuts the risk of cirrhosis of the liver from alcohol.

I drink a considerable amount of alcohol, although I've cut back in recent weeks, but I generally have at least 3 cups of coffee per day, if not more. If I happen to go to Starbucks, I will get a Venti Americano, which is 4 shots of espresso diluted with hot water until it is about the same strength as coffee. And that is on top of the coffee that I will drink in a normal day.

Fishing in Rock Hall

Yesterday, I fished in a fishing tournament in Rock Hall, MD. I caught a 22" Striped Bass, which was pretty cool, but I think I miss fishing a lot.

This picture is for the people that don't know that I only caught one fish (the one on the left).

Bigfoot Shoes!

While I'm not sure if it will catch on, Vibram has come out with Five Fingers which actually should be called Five Toes. It's a multifunction shoe that separates the toes and stimulates them. I just think that they look like the Bigfoot logo, besides the fact that the logo only has 3 toes.

Unity 08

The world of politics is interesting. There are many issues that people can't agree with, and then there are party line huggers who adopt a party's platform/agenda/what have you and make it their own. While that doesn't seem very American to me, I guess it's also exercising your freedom (or lack thereof) of speech.

The folks over at Unity 08 have an idea. Come up with a Presidential ticket that represents the views of the majority of America. They claim that, "Recent Presidential elections, however, have not been focused on the middle but on the turnout of each party's special interest groups - with each party's "base" representing barely ten percent of the American people."

Now, that's what I thought Independent meant. Will this group also have to abide by FEC regulations? We'll see.

Tomorrow, is the sixth day of June, 2006. That means the date is short notation will be 6/6/6. 666, as most of you know, is the Number of the Beast. There are more resources here, and if you're in Michigan tomorrow, you can spend some time in Hell.

Mailing Bricks

According to the Annals of Improbable Research, mailing bricks through the USPS doesn't work. Granted, this may have been at one particular post office, or what not, but whatever. Plus the "study" was done back in 2000, which is pre-9/11.

Anyway, one may wonder how all the bricks got mailed to lawmakers as I previously mentioned.
