Happy New Year

Well, here's the new kaplink.net on a new machine.

The blog has been moved to here (as you can see). This may be my last post for a few days, since I'm going to Killington until the Jan 4th.

Now, I have to pack for the trip, and run a few errands. Enjoy, and Happy New Year.

* update: I just got called into work. Monkeys.

Back in DC

Here I am back in DC. I had to go into work today to bring a one of our GNU/Linux servers up. It apparently went down on Friday, and there is a ton of work to do. I just hope that the servers behave while I'm at Killington this weekend. I just bought some new Nordica 10 ski boots from The Ski Chalet in Tysons Corner, VA today. Now, I just need goggles. Maybe I'll just get them when I get to Killington. Anyway, I have to go back to work now.

Duzi's getting married

So, today while drinking at Vinny's in Hornell, I discover (via talking to my friend Duzi's sister) that tomorrow (well today) is my friend Duzi's Bachelor Party. This has been a good friend of mine back way back since the days when I was a Bantam Bowler in elementary school. He was a good friend of mine in high school, and now he's getting married on New Year's Eve. Althought I won't be able to make it to the wedding, I'm for DAMN SURE going to be at his bachelor party at 4 PM today. Congrats Duzi. Surprise!

I saw a rack of people today that I'd never think I'd ever see in my entire life ever again. Many have kids, some have multiple kids, etc. Anyway, I'll update more tomorrow when I'm a li'l more sober. For now, Buenos Noctes.

Shopping

Today, my family went on a trip to do some after Christmast shopping. I only bought a hat. I looked at ski boots too, but they didn't have my size. I really like the Atomic Race 10 boots. The Ski Company in Rochester had the Race 11, and the Race 9, but not 10. *sigh* maybe when I get back to DC.

We're going out to a few bars in town tonight (of the 3 or so). I'm sure I'll see all the people that I don't really want to see, and that have not made it out of the greater Hornell area in their whole lives. But boy, do I need a beer.

Went Skiing

So I went skiing today. Swain doesn't change much. They try though. I've been skiing there pretty much every year since 1980. Back when they had the T-bar lift. I figured out today that I need new ski boots, and goggles. I got new skis a few years ago, and then a new jacket last year, new pants a few weeks ago, so, it's just a matter of the goggles and boots. I love skiing. love it love it. A bunch of us are going to Killington right after the new year. I'll make sure to put up a photo album after I get back from that trip.

Time to upgrade

It's really time for me to probably get a new computer. This web server is probably too slow to be useful at this point. Although, I know that Maura will probably be happy that I finallly have a blog up. I'm going to try to compile all this on a beta version on my laptop here, and then when I get a new computer, I'll put it up on there. Don't worry, I won't forget to keep updating this blog.

I'm going to Swain to go skiing tomorrow with my sisters. It's where I learned to ski way back starting in 1980. It was much different then, but the people are mainly the same.

Also, today on Christmas Eve, it's kind of a tradition to open presents a little early. Like today, early. I got a pack of homies, a Burberry Touch for Men gift set, an egg poacher, a matress heater, and a Dolce & Gabanna suit.

From Maura, I got a nice shirt and sweater from FCUK, some chocolates, and a DLink Bluetooth Adapter for my laptop. I love geek gifts and nice clothes. And chocolates.

Back for the Holidays

I'm back in upstate New York right now for the holidays. Things here don't change much. Althoiugh I did bring my Apple Airport here, so I'm wireless, putting my first blog comment up on kaplink from my laptop. Kinda cool, but nothing special.

By the way, WTF is up with SCO?

This is my crack at a blog using Movabletype. This will change probably within the next few days because this server has very little disk space left. Just a few more entries, and it'll be full. I know I keep saying that, but it'll all true. And hopefully, with this week being some down time for me, I'll actually get to it.
